The EyeWriter

Sir Sway:  Aspiring to be a doctor I found this video really inspiring.  The medical practices being used today are helping so many people.  This is what schools should be teaching kids, instead of making them waste their time on ridiculous poster projects.

No Break Jeans

Mr. Mobile: So today we're going to talk about something that's becoming more and more abundant in the world of fashion: no break jeans. The break in a jean is where the jean meets the shoe and bunch up. No break jeans are just jeans that don't do this. They are essentially jeans that fall perfectly around the ankle and don't wrinkle.

There are two ways to achieve this. The first and more popular of the two is to roll the cuff of your jean so that it can't bunch up at the bottom. The second is to have your jeans tailored so that they have just the right length.

Personally I tend toward the second look. I love no break jeans and quite frankly I don't like the look of the rolled up cuff. Here is a quick look at how I pull it off.

For better reference I suggest you check out my post about The Sartorialist. The first few second of the video are a prime example of no break jeans.

Junya Watanabe

Sir Sway:  Among my ten favourite fashion designers lies Junya Watanabe.  He became a protege of the untrained queen of Japanese fashion Rei Kawakubo (who is probably number 1 on my list).  Rei's story is the absolute definition of a fashion fairy tale.  She had no training or schooling, and she was able to start one of the biggest Japanese clothing companies, COMME des Garcons.  She took Junya under her wing when he was 23 years old where he started making a name for himself.  Junya like Rei, keeps his ideas innovative by taking simple design ideas and recreating them to fit the modern fashion world. This is his latest spring/summer collection with Comme des Garcons.

This next little part has nothing to do with Junya Watanabe but I thought it would be nice to listen to music while looking at these pictures.   My sister being one of the coolest people I know introduced me to the Black Keys.. yes I know I should of been well aware of them but I live in Halifax during the schooling season so I am a bit out of the loop.  One of the best rated CDs of 2010 was Brothers by the Black Keys.  Unlike my sister, I am slightly more into rap and hip hop, so I was stunned when someone teamed up Big Boi with The Black Keys.  I recommend listening to every song a few times because they really grow on you.  You can download them for free as well.

Go Get Tangerine is my favourite.

Some Old Tunes

Mr. Mobile: We post a lot of relatively new music on this blog, so I thought I'd change it up for a post. As can be read in my bio "Mr. Mobile" my overall favorite music genre is oldies (60's and 70's). Here are some of what I consider to be essential oldies for any music collection.

Jordan III's

Sir Sway: Greatest jordan capsule ever created... maybe that's a little bias but thats only because it's the only one I can rock.

Jordan 1988 retro fit

1988s con't... if anyones willing to sell theirs please let me know

1994s

2003s

2011s

Its interesting to see how the shoe has matured and changed and how something like the leathers used are so different today compared to 15 years ago.  The III's got famous because they were the first jordans to expose the air sole, designed by Tinker Hatfield.  The III's were also released in 1988 when Michael Jordan won MVP and completely destroyed the slam dunk competition.

Time's A-Rollin

Sir Sway: The Prestige was started just this summer and has continued to make progress in the making of the site, as well as its content.  We started out with a simple template which was then almost immediately changed to a simple clean layout, we then recently made a big change in the layout... and because it wasn't exactly perfect, we changed it again.  With that in mind, the content is going to change as well.  Being a blogger I surf the net during a lot of my off time and being a sneaker head/brand whore I come across lots of crazy gear.  So yes, the posts from now on will have more of a structure and pattern to them.  Every week I will introduce a new brand I have come across in my net surfing. I will also be posting new shoes that come across..... which is quite frequently.  I have also recently starting engaging myself in the art world and have started doing my own street art.  I will post all the cool inspirational artists I find as well as any cool pieces I make.

Mr. Mobile: On that note, I'll be focusing more on music and pop culture. But, at the end of the day, its still all about style. You can look forward to a more consistent The Prestige from now on.

Barbra Streisand

Mr. Mobile: I'm sure most of you have heard Barbra Streisand by Duck Sauce (posted below), so I thought I'd share with you the song they sample. It's called Gotta Go Home and is by a disco group from Germany in the 80's called Boney M. I've posted they're video below as well. This video makes me wish I lived through the 80's... such a shame.

The Sartorialist

Mr. Mobile: Here is a short documentary on one of my (and sir sway's) favorite bloggers.

Winter Boot Blues

Mr. Mobile: I recently tried to replace my winter boots and was shocked by what I found. Simply put, the world isn't doing anything too special in the realm of men's boots. Anyway, my first look brought me to this (the men's boots section in a Brown's).

*It's not important if you can't see these clearly. The point is between the Sorels and the Uggs I wasn't impressed.

Anyway after days of searching the best that I was able to find I've shown below...

Max Chin

Sir Sway: A friend of mine showed me this. Thanks Tham! This video has absolutely nothing to do with clothing but it's too well done to pass up.  Through the unbelievable cinematography of Max Chin you can see that each face of a person tells a story.  Each face shows so much emotion whether it's hurt, happiness, regret, fear, or pretty much any emotion.  Enjoy!

If your into the song I believe its 'The Funeral by The Band of Horses'
